About rFIMS.ca

What is this site?

rFIMS.ca is a community resource dedicated to explaining and exploring Canada's RPAS Traffic Management (RTM) framework. Our goal is to make the complex world of drone traffic management accessible to operators, pilots, service providers, regulators, and anyone interested in the future of Canadian airspace.

Who maintains this site?

This site is maintained by the RPAS Wilco team. RPAS Wilco is an RTM Service Provider (RSP) building operator-facing tools for the Canadian RTM ecosystem.

As an RSP, we work at the intersection of drone operators and the national airspace system. We believe that a well-informed community — operators who understand the framework, regulators who hear from practitioners, and service providers who collaborate openly — leads to better outcomes for everyone.

Our approach

  • Aligned with the ConOps: All technical content on this site is based on the NAV CANADA RTM Concept of Operations (ConOps) v1.1. We cite the ConOps where specific claims are made.
  • Neutral and informative: This is an educational resource, not a sales pitch. We describe the framework as designed, including areas where implementation details are still being determined.
  • Community-oriented: We welcome feedback, corrections, and contributions from all stakeholders — operators, regulators, other RSPs, and international practitioners.

Acknowledgments

  • NAV CANADA — for the RTM ConOps v1.1, which provides the foundational framework documented on this site
  • Transport Canada — for the regulatory framework including CARs Part IX and proposed BVLOS amendments
  • ICAO — for the international RPAS and UTM guidance that informs Canada's approach
